Oak Island is a narrow strip of land that is separated into two beach communities: Oak Island and Caswell Beach. Oak Island is located just across the water from Bald Head Island and Southport.
For the sun, sand and sea enthusiast, Oak Island extends to the public unmatched access to the beach, Intracoastal Wateray and The Davis Creek Canal with more than 60 public beach accesses, three fishing piers, a marina, two public boat/canoe ramps, two educational centers, bike paths, numerous picnic area, walking and canoe trails and an extensive sidewalk system.
With over 12 miles of beach to choose from and over 60 public access points, Oak Island also offers 3 fishing piers; Yaupon Pier, Ocean Crest Pier, and Long Beach Pier. Enjoy the free public boat ramp on the west end at the Blue Water Marina Resort.

Park Areas are provided for the use of residents and visitors. Middleton Park has a playground and playing fields for various sports such as baseball, basketball and tennis. The town also has a skateboard park.
